Meet Marlyn Roquemore, Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer for Forsythe Cosmetic Group Ltd. She was a main part in designing the new Color Club logo!

Us: What was your first job in the industry?
Marlyn: I worked for Deborah Lippmann during her first year of business; it was Deborah, her husband Jude and her brother Mark. It was such an exciting time, starting from the ground up. I did everything from shipping out boxes of orders with Jude to going back stage with Deborah during Fashion Week. The highlight of that experience was, of course, Deborah giving me a manicure! She is still an inspiration to me to this day and we remain close.

What was your childhood ambition?
To be a dancer. I always wanted to be on Solid Gold in the 80’s and a Fly Girl in the 90’s.

Marylyn RoquemoreAre you a morning or night person?
Morning! I am at the gym by 5:30 a.m. and I feel most productive in the earlier part of the day. I have always been envious of night owls, but I usually fall asleep before all the good T.V. shows are on!

What is your proudest accomplishment?
The rebranding of Color Club. Taking on the task of staying true to the brands DNA while creating a new platform to showcase this outstanding product was the biggest undertaking of my career. After 18 months of re-facing everything from the logo and product packaging to collection photo shoots and the company letterhead, I was blown away by the excitement from our existing customers as well as all the attention from our peers.

My favorite movie is…
Defending Your Life with Meryl Streep. No matter how many times I watch it I laugh just as much as the first time.

Who would you like to work with?
Gigi Hadid. She is such a beauty, inside and out.

My Moschino pink mirror iPhone case (pictured above). It’s completely unnecessary and I love it!

The best set of nails I’ve ever seen…
I am always blown away by the work of Mei Kawajiri. Her designs are so original and fresh.

What are you most afraid of?
Running out of ideas, but it hasn’t happened yet (knock on wood)!

My perfect day would be…
I am a beauty junkie so the perfect day would be spent at the spa—all day!

What inspires you?
Music is a big influence for me, along with the energy of New York City. I like to find the beauty in everything.

What was your first job ever?
When I was 14 years old, I worked at a video store. They don’t even exist anymore!
