Welcome to NAILPRO's NAILED DOWN where we “nail down” the details of selected nail design artists from our User Galleries.
This week we visit Baltimore City, Maryland!
Meet London Taylor:
Where do you work?
The Purple Peach Nail & Day Spa
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as a spontaneous individual. I love to express myself through my sense of fashion, which is glam-rock.
Tell us about how you got started in the nail industry.
I was at a point in my life where I didn’t know what I wanted to do as far as a career. My best friend had suggested to me to become a nail artist because it was the only thing I was truly interested in and stuck to. So I contacted a nail tech friend on Facebook for advice on starting with this career choice. She gave me pointers and asked me to come to the nail salon to see how the business works. Next thing I knew, I started working at The Purple Peach Nail and Day Spa and have loved it ever since.
What/Who inspires your work?
I am inspired by things I see such as clothing patterns, painting, graffiti, other nail artists and myself. I always try to outdo myself when I do nail art.
Are there any tool(s) you can't live without?
Tools I can’t live without are my black nail art pen, other colored nail art pens, chains, rhinestones of all colors, and any type of junk to put on the nail such as bows and spikes.
Do you have a favorite technique or style?
My favorite technique/style is to do whatever clients ask for from tribal to grunge.
What is your craziest/funniest nail story?
My craziest nail story is when I did my first pedicure. My first two clients were male strippers who didn’t care what they talked about in front of me. I was uncomfortable with that. They told their stories, which were very interesting.
What tip can you offer to other nail technicians?
Be yourself by expressing yourself through your work.
