Celebrity Nail Artist Thuy Nguyen created nail looks for Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade at the Academy Awards that are perfect for a black tie affair!

Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade sported elegant and sophisticated manicures by celebrity nail artist Thuy Nguyen (@thuybnguyen) at the Academy Awards, using products from CND.
"The look called for elegance, and we wanted to complement Gabrielle’s beautiful metallic dress with a classic nude like CND Field Fox. For Wade, we wanted to extend the style of his iconic black and white tux by bringing those elements to his nails using CND Black Pool and Studio White, leaving some nails nude to match Gabrielle’s nails,” states Nguyen.
Follow the step-by-step tutorials below to recreate these looks for your clients looking for a classy manicure.
Gabrielle Union
- Begin with nail prep.
- Apply a layer of CND PLEXIGEL Bonder, and cure in the CND LED Lamp using preset button 1.
- Using CND Future Forms with CND PLEXIGEL Builder build nail length, shape, and architecture to a medium length almond-shaped nail. Cure each layer using button 2B and clean with 99% IPA.
- Shape and refine the nail using a 180-grit file & buffer, and clean with 99% IPA.
- Apply two layers of CND SHELLAC in Field Fox. Cure each layer using button 2S.
- Seal with a layer of CND SHELLAC No-Wipe+ Top Coat, and cure using button 3.
- Moisturize with CND SOLAROIL to condition nails and cuticles.
Dwayne Wade
- Begin with nail prep.
- Apply a layer of CND SHELLAC Original Base Coat, and cure in the CND LED Lamp using preset button 1.
- Apply two layers of CND SHELLAC in Black Pool and Studio White to alternating nails. Cure each layer using button 2S.
- Seal with a layer of CND SHELLAC No-Wipe+ Top Coat, and cure using button 3.
- Moisturize with CND SOLAROIL to condition nails and cuticles.
